Thelma Mallette, Nee Gomes: 1924 – 2023

Thelma slipped away peacefully from this world on October 12, 2023 at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care centre in Kirkland, Quebec. Born on 1st December 1924 in British Guyana, South America, one of 10 children, she is survived by her sister Olga Fitch.

At almost 99 years young, Thelma was a lifelong devoted Catholic and by example showed us how to live a life filled with kindness and caring towards others right to the end of her days, smiling and thanking all those that took care of her in the last weeks of her life, Thelma left this world with grace and dignity.

Thelma emigrated to Montreal on her own in 1951 and while working at Celanese in Montreal, Quebec, met and married Donald Mallette on March 30th, 1957. Predeceased by her husband, Donald Mallette (Jan 2010), Thelma was the mother of 5 children Danny (Claire), Wayne (Melanie), Heather (Michael), Glenn (Fabiola) and Nancy and grandmother to Ryan (Elle), Megan, Michael, Adria and Samantha and great grandmother to Elliott, Mavis and Alina.

Thelma liked to record quotes that meant something to her and here is one such quote to share: “The best place in the world to be, is in someone’s thoughts, their prayers and their hearts.”

A funeral service will be held at St-Thomas A Beckett parish on November 4th, 2023 at 10h30 AM followed by a celebration of life.
