Georgetown, Guyana, December 12, 2025 – My sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Ron Robinson, especially his daughter, Allison Robinson-Rahim, on his passing earlier today. Losing a cultural giant never feels fair, but Guyana has lost one of its quiet architects, a man whose creativity and generosity shaped generations.
My first encounter with Ron was as a youngster, many moons ago, on the Royal Jewel House Quiz Show at Radio Demerara, sometime around 1970 or earlier. Even then, he carried that unmistakable presence: sharp, warm, witty, and deeply invested in lifting others up. It was impossible not to feel the force of his spirit, even across the static of a radio studio.
Ron grew into one of Guyana’s most outstanding and multifaceted sons. Whether on stage, on air, behind the scenes, or guiding new talent into the light, he poured himself into the cultural fabric of this country. His work was not just performance; it was nation-building, the kind that leaves fingerprints on hearts, institutions, and memories.
His contributions endure far beyond applause. They form a foundation that future generations, both in Guyana and across the diaspora, can build upon with pride. Ron showed us what it means to be rooted yet far-reaching, accomplished yet humble, talented yet endlessly generous.
May his legacy continue to inspire, and may his family find comfort in knowing that his influence is woven into the national story. Guyana is better because Ron Robinson lived, created and gave so much.
