The search is still on for a 25-year-old Guyanese man who is the main suspect in the murder of 18-year-old Nikita Ramischand — the daughter of attorney Odai Ramischand of Trinidad and Tobago.
On Wednesday night, the School of Business and Computer Science (SBCS) student was found dead with her throat slashed along a pathway behind the family’s Maracas Royal Road, Maracas, Valley home, Trinidad.
The suspect in the killing is reported to have boarded a Caribbean Airlines (CAL) flight just a few hours later, at about 12.25 am on Thursday, and arrived in Guyana an hour later. His last known hideout was identified as Soesdyke, East of the Demerara River.
Speaking to Sunday Newsday briefly yesterday, Odai Ramischand explained that while he had heard no further news on the case, he expected that the suspect would be held soon.
“I can say that the authorities in Guyana have met and a search has been organised for the individual, but I cannot say what is the outcome of that initiative at this time,” Ramischand explained.
Investigations are continuing.
