Stewart Stevenson, popular figure in the Guyana motor racing circles has died.

Frank Stewart Stevenson, a former motor racing champion and a well-known figure in motor sports in Guyana, passed away on January 1, 2014 in a hospital in Miami. He was born on November 22, 1953.

Stewart was an iconic figure in motor racing during the 1970s, winning numerous trophies and accolades for his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. His passion for motor racing made him a beloved and respected figure in the racing community.

A member of the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) for over 40 years, Stewart was known for his dedication and hard work at race meets until his recent illness prevented his participation. He competed in numerous club events and proudly represented Guyana as a motorcyclist in the 1970s.

Stewart is fondly remembered as the chief mobile marshal at local and international racing events in Guyana and for his expertise in the “Blue Spads Pickup” for the Group 3 and 4 rolling starts. His contributions and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
