APNU/AFC Rally in Lethem by Aubrey LaCruz

Just back from APNU+AFC rally in Lethem. Here are the highlights as I remember them. There was a fair size crowd, rough estimate about 2500 or more.

Region 9 has some of largest fresh water otter and fish in the world. Also the largest Eagle in the world. On the negative side region 9 is one of the poorest regions in Guyana. In education in last CXC examination there was only 28% pass rate. That is 3 in every 4 students failed their exams. In mathematics not one region 9 student got a grade one result.

A stadium facility will be built as well as a technical institute. An Amerindian Land commission will be set up to look at the question of Amerindian land titles. The Amerindian Act of 2006 will be revised .
