The former Venezuelan foreign minister José Vicente Rangel made the following allegation on his TV program yesterday:

Translated by Dr. Odeen Ishmael from the Spanish text of the newspaper report.

JVR: INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES INFILTRATING FROM GUYANA

He indicated that persons are being trained to destabilize Venezuela

Journalist José Vicente Rangel denounced yesterday that “international intelligence agencies are carrying out infiltration activities from the Cooperative Republic of Guyana” into Venezuela.

In his section on confidential information, he affirmed that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States; the British Military Intelligence (MI16) and Israeli intelligence (Mossad) “have been collaborating with the military and intelligence training of troops of Guyana Defense Force”.

“US Special Forces are reinforcing these activities in the area and, from the waterways of the Yuruani River in Essequibo in the vicinity of the sector called Anacoco, they are training personnel to raid Venezuelan areas as part of a social and economic destabilization program in the region,” he said yesterday in his TV program “José Vicente Hoy (Jose Vicente Today).”

He added that, according to intelligence sources, “there is a large flow of weapons from the reclamation area in Essequibo into Venezuela.”
