Deputy Director of Flight Operations & Technical Services

Reports to: Director of Flight Operations & Technical Services

Overview: This position provides support to the HAI Operations Department on matters relating to aircraft maintenance, certification, technical standards, and safety.

Essential Functions of the Position Include, but Are Not Limited To — 

  • Providing auxiliary support to the Director of Flight Operations & Technical Services
  • Representing HAI at various industry and government meetings at the regional, state, and federal level
  • Providing assistance during all flight operation activities at the association’s annual trade show and exposition, HAI HELI-EXPO®
  • Responding to requests for technical assistance from the general public and HAI members
  • Contributing content for use in HAI’s printed and electronic publications
  • Providing guidance for HAI’s educational programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications and Requirements for the Position Include — 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Seven or more years of helicopter maintenance, safety, and/or aviation management experience
  • Certificated Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) technician or commensurate maintenance experience
  • Certificated helicopter pilot
  • Highly developed knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Experience interfacing with FSDOs, ACO, and/or Rotorcraft Directorate for the purposes of aircraft certification, STC development, and/or form 337 submission and processing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in creating and delivering written proposals and public presentations
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to travel
