Miss Guyana World 2012 Arti Cameron will be participating in GUYEXPO 2012 at the invitation of the Ministry of Tourism and the Guyana Tourism Authority through the sponsorship of Universal Travel and Tour, which is a newly formed company that will be showcasing its travel services in this year’s historic trade fair from September 27- September 30, 2012.
The reigning Miss Guyana World will be extended the full compliments of VIP preferences during her brief stay in Guyana.
In her typical patriotic style, Miss Cameron said, “I have always sought to spotlight the positives of my country and tout Guyana’s tourism offerings even without being asked. It’s my duty as a Guyanese to do this–and wearing the Miss Guyana World crown certainly helps me get heard in the international arena as well.”
This would not be the first time Miss Cameron is lending her support to Guyana’s effort at bolstering tourism and trade. During Caribbean Week 2012 held in New York City June 4-9, the reigning Miss Guyana World had donned her sash and crown and stood outside Guyana’s tourism booth for hours helping to position Guyana as a worthy tourism destination with rich tourism offerings.
Speaking of this event Cameron stated, “This was held at Grand Central Station in Manhattan, a prime spot where the cultures of the world converge in a unique way and where I proudly helped to promote my country and its tourism potential. I was aware every moment that thousands of Guyanese make a living from our tourism sector, and I wanted to do my best to help a man or a woman in Guyana take home another paycheck to their family through any effort I could help the Guyana Tourism Authority to make at home or abroad.”
This would be Miss Cameron’s first trip back to Guyana after representing her beloved home- country at Miss World 2012 where she received a great deal of attention and held the Golden Arrowhead high and proudly. While at Miss World 2012, the reigning queen made it past the semifinals and into the finals of the Sport and Fitness segment, was highly regarded by her peers as a well-dressed and poised contestant, and declared the winner of the People’s Choice Award powered by Missosology. At Miss World, Miss Cameron had also presented a National Dance in which she performed in an authentic Amerindian-made national costume presented to her by the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs. Her Country Gift was a specially made map of Guyana created by Guyanese artist Jonathan Locke. Miss Cameron had also presented a set of semi-precious stones from Guyana to be used in the construction of the World Rock Garden, a brainchild of the Miss World Organization.
GuyExpo 2012 is being held under the theme “Strengthening the Traditional, Embracing the New” and is expected to draw more than 80,000 patrons in addition to over 400 exhibitors from the Caribbean, North America, South America, China, and India.
