British Airways has resumed flights to Guyana after more than 40 years

Last evening, a British Airways Boeing 777 landed at Cheddi Jagan International Airport to a tumultuous welcome by ministers of the government of Guyana, the UK Ambassador to Guyana Ms. Jane Miller, other invited guests, and the general public.

The flight departed from Gatwick Airport in the UK and made one stop in St. Lucia before arriving in Guyana. On the flight were British MP David Rutley, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, several members of the UK business community, and tourists.

British Airways plans to operate two outbound flights from London Gatwick per week to Guyana on Mondays and Thursdays, stopping in St. Lucia, with departure from CIJA to Gatwick on the same day after stopping in St. Lucia.

Guyana Graphic welcomes British Airways to Guyana and looks forward to the usual high standards the world has become accustomed to from British Airways.
