At the request of President Donald Ramotar, a meeting was held, on Wednesday 29th May 2013, with the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Brigadier David A. Granger, MP, at the Office of the President.
President Ramotar was accompanied by Dr. Roger F. Luncheon, Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Brigadier Granger by: the Shadow Minister for Public Infrastructure and Communications, Mr Joseph F. Harmon, MP; the Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Mrs Deborah J. Backer, MP; and the Policy Adviser, Mr. E. Lance Carberry.
The discussions were very frank and ranged over the issues that have bedevilled the functioning of the Tenth Parliament and have become the causes for confrontation, particularly, the need to recognise that the results of the November 2011 General and Regional Elections make it imperative that there should be a respectful and cooperative relationship between the Executive and Legislative branches of Government.
