The pilot who the only occupant of the $30,000 Convair aircraft, was unhurt. Yesterday afternoon, the plane was resurfaced and salvage operations were in progress.

Piloted by a US airman, the aircraft was reported to made a perfect landing, but as it was taxing up the GAC ramp it slid backwards into the river and drifted with falling tide. It then colided with a large iron barge which was anchored nearby, turned turtle and sank.

The civil Aviation source said yesterday that a report of the incident was still being awaited.

Customs officials denied knowledge of the plane’s arrival.
Reports state that the aircraft was brought from Miami for it owner Mr. Donald Hank and was to be used in his mining operations in the interior.
