Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter Announces that he has been Diagnosed with Cancer

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter released a statement on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, announcing that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

His statement reads:

“Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body. I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare. A more complete public statement will be made when facts are known, possibly next week.”

The staff at Guyana Graphic sends our very best wishes to President Jimmy Carter as he undergoes treatment for cancer.

We thank him for the role he has played in world politics, especially in Guyana. We hope that he will quickly recuperate, and be able to continue to make important contributions on the world stage.
